A Step Closer to Innovation in Digital Railway Systems: the LTT Meeting in Gölcük

A meeting in progress in a modern classroom setting with people seated around a conference table.

From June 23 to 26, 2025, the RISS – Rail Interlocking System Simulation team gathered in Gölcük, Turkey, for an important week of collaborative work, focusing on enhancing and finalizing the digital simulations for railway training. The event brought together project partners from across Europe, each contributing to the development of advanced simulation scenarios.

What happened in Gölcük?
During this meeting, participants focused on refining the simulations and finalizing the scenarios, in order to prepare clear and accessible guidelines for Teachers and functional algorithm flows of application scenarios. These elements will form the foundation of future virtual learning experiences for students and professionals in the railway sector.

In addition to the working sessions, the team had the opportunity to explore practical applications during technical visits, including railway control and signalling management

Subtitle: The Future of railway training: next steps
This meeting represented a crucial step toward the digitalization of railway training. The RISS project aims to overcome traditional training challenges by reducing gaps and increasing accessibility, offering simulations that faithfully replicate real-world conditions of railway systems. The goal is to create training scenarios that prepare future professionals to handle the complexities of railway systems in a safe and controlled environment.

With the creation and testing of simulations, the RISS project is set to take a major step forward in refining digital learning platforms. In the coming months, the team will continue to develop advanced features, aiming to prepare a skilled workforce ready to meet the challenges of the railway industry. Next step? Bari (Italy), on October 2025, held by ITS Academy Cuccovillo Foundation.

Stay tuned for continuous updates on this innovative project that will transform digital railway training!
